What is the YES Learnership Program?

The YES (Youth Employment Service) Learnership is part of a government project aiming at providing young South Africans with the skills and experience they need to further their careers in a variety of fields. Motus Aftermarket Parts is providing this learnership in the automotive industry, where candidates will acquire hands-on experience in warehousing, stock management, picking, binning, and scanner operation.

Role Responsibilities

The YES Learnership program provides a complete understanding of the numerous functions in the automobile aftermarket industry. Learners will be exposed to the following major responsibilities:

1. Binning and Stock Management

Learners will be responsible for binning incoming products and replenishing inventory from bulk storage to pick locations. Attention to detail is essential, as learners must ensure that new items are assigned to the appropriate warehouse regions with updated bin location numbers. Furthermore, they will assist with replenishment activities and ensure that incoming items are received and examined in accordance with corporate requirements.

2. Picking and Order Fulfillment

Picking up customer and branch orders will be another important task. Learners will be responsible for picking merchandise from bulk locations in order to fulfill order cut-off timings, as well as ensuring that stock is handled and packed appropriately to avoid breakage. They will also be responsible for assisting with stocktaking processes and ensuring that all operational objectives are reached.

3. Scanner Control

Learners will acquire experience with scanner control, which involves assigning scanners to operators, assessing returning scanners for damage, and ensuring they are properly booked back into stock. Their responsibilities will include keeping accurate records of scanner use and reporting any damage that occurs.

4. General Warehouse Duties

Requirements

To be eligible for the YES Learnership program, individuals must complete the following requirements:

  • Age: Must be between the ages of 18 and 25 years old.
  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
  • Education: Candidates must have finished Grade 12 (Matric) and have a clear, certified copy of their certificate.
  • Availability: Candidates must be accessible immediately and not be enrolled in any other learning opportunities or programs at another university.
