Traffic Officer Training Programme 2025: How to Apply
The Lephalale Local Municipality has started the Traffic Officer Training Programme in a daring and forward-thinking effort to improve road safety and law enforcement. This project seeks to empower jobless kids in the Limpopo province by providing organized, accredited training that leads to a profession in traffic enforcement. WHAT IS THE LEPHALALE TRAFFIC OFFICER TRAINEE PROGRAMME?
The Traffic Officer Training Programme is a learnership effort that aims to teach prospective traffic cops in accordance with national and provincial regulations. Trainees will be enrolled at RTMC-registered training institutions to complete the Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Traffic Law Enforcement (NQF Level 4).
The programme is more than simply academic study; it involves extensive practical experience, fieldwork, and simulations. Participants who successfully complete the program will be qualified as traffic police and may be placed in various municipal or provincial traffic departments based on openings and performance.
KEY BENEFITS FOR PARTICIPANTS:
- Accredited Qualification: Completion earns a NQF Level 4 certificate in Road Traffic Law Enforcement.
- Monthly Stipend: Trainees are paid a monthly allowance for the duration of the programme. (R100 000 p.a)
- Employment Opportunities: Outstanding individuals may be considered for permanent positions by the Lephalale Municipality or other government agencies.
- Career Development: Graduates can continue their studies or specialize in fields such as accident investigation, road safety education, or vehicle inspection.
WHO CAN APPLY?
The programme is aimed at South African youth, particularly those from impoverished communities in and around Lephalale. Basic eligibility criteria include:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- South African citizenship
- Valid Code B (Manual) Driver’s License
- No criminal record
- Medically fit and of good moral character
- Reside within the Lephalale Local Municipality (preferred)
Furthermore, candidates must be willing to go through physical training, competency testing, and security screening.

- A Lephalale Municipality Employment Application form
- A signed application letter, sent to the Municipal Manager
- A detailed CV with clear contact details
- Certified copies of identification (ID), matric certificate, and driver’s license
- Proof of residency (ideally, a municipal account or an affidavit)

Applications that are faxed or e-mailed, as well as those that do not include the required documents, will be immediately dismissed. If you are not contacted within 90 days after the closing date, please consider your application failed.
