Key Responsibilities:

First Point of Contact:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for customers visiting Labour Centres, providing advice and help.

Information Provision:

  • Addressing inquiries about labour legislation, employment services, and other departmental offers.

Complaint Resolution:

  • Receiving and resolving labour law concerns from clients.

Application Processing:

  • Assisting customers with applications for unemployment insurance benefits, compensation claims (COIDA), and employer registrations.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Keeping records, creating communications, and organizing paperwork for customer contacts.

Employment Services:

  • Providing assistance to job seekers and companies via the Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA) platform.

Referral Services:

  • For increasingly difficult situations, customers are sent to specialized teams or other organizations.

Skills and Competencies:

Client Service Officers are required to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as computer literacy, analytical talents, and a customer-service mindset. They must be able to read legislation and manage time properly.

Examples of Specific Tasks:

UIF:

Processing unemployment insurance applications, including employer statements.

COIDA:

Providing assistance to customers with Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act applications and registrations.

Registration Services:

Providing assistance with different registration processes within the department.

ESSA:

Assisted with the registration of job seekers and the advertising of jobs and learning opportunities.

Complaints:

Addressing concerns about labour laws and other departmental services.
