Introduction

Limpopo Transport: Traffic Officer Learnership Programme 2025 (X154 Posts). The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety (LDTCS) is presenting a unique opportunity for young, enthusiastic South Africans to participate in the 2025 Traffic Officer Learnership Programme. With 154 positions available across the province, this 12-month program combines theoretical education with actual workplace training. The purpose is to provide learners with the skills, knowledge, and experience required to serve as qualified Traffic Officers who are committed to maintaining the province’s road safety and enforcement standards.

What is the Traffic Officer Learnership Programme?

The Traffic Officer Learnership Programme is a systematic project that aims to create officers who are competent, disciplined, and community-oriented. Participants will get extensive classroom instruction as well as hands-on experience on the road. Upon successful completion, learners will get a recognized Traffic Officer qualification, paving the way for a rewarding career in public service. The effort is part of the Department’s overall plan to address road safety issues, decrease traffic-related accidents, and guarantee compliance with traffic rules throughout Limpopo.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this learnership, candidates must satisfy the following requirements:

  • A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Age between 18 and 35 years
  • Valid Code B driving licence (manual transmission)
  • South African citizenship with a valid Identity Document
  • Medically fit having an official medical certificate verifying their ability to conduct intensive physical exercise.
  • No criminal record, and not ruled unable to carry a handgun under the Firearms Control Act
  • No obvious tattoos that violate professional norms.
  • Be willing to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Willingness to take driving and competence tests throughout the screening process.

Role Responsibility

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Enforcing road traffic laws and regulations
  • Promoting road safety awareness within communities
  • Conducting routine traffic patrols and law enforcement operations
  • Assisting in accident response and management
  • Monitoring vehicle and driver compliance with licensing requirements
  • Reporting and recording traffic incidents accurately
  • Working with other law enforcement agencies to coordinate safety activities
