Job Description

Dis-Chem is hiring a clinical receptionist: Apply with Grade 12. Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Paarl has an opportunity for a Clinic Receptionist to join the team. The major goal of this function will be to attend to patients on the phone and in person and manage and organize appointments and documents to allow seamless operation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Essential: Grade 12 / Matric

Duties

  • Register patients according to established standards.
  • Assists patients in filling out appropriate medical documents, including medical insurance.
  • Monitor and maintain the necessary clinical equipment, stationery, and necessary medications.
  • Informs patients about clinic processes and keeps their data.
  • Open new patient files according to standard procedures.
  • Ensure patient information is correct.
  • Process medical aid payments.
  • Move patients through appoints as scheduled.
  • Obtain medical reports if required.
  • Ensure that the reception space is clean and well-maintained to protect the patient’s privacy and confidentiality.
  • Respond to all incoming calls in a timely manner in accordance with Dis-Chem standards.
  • When conversing with patients over the phone, follow good telephone etiquette guidelines.
  • Provide useful and accurate information to callers about their requests, questions, or concerns.
  • Take down caller information on all calls that come through the switchboard for the third time, and email the appropriate staff.
  • Ensure you are taking the correct message from the callers – repeat the message to the caller for confirmation.
  • Take extra precautions when gathering caller contact information; repeat the information to the caller for confirmation.
  • Ask the caller appropriate questions to verify that the proper message is transferred.
  • Ensure that messages or calls are always delivered to the proper individual.
  • Assist walk-in guests in contacting staff for meetings and/or delivery.
  • When consumers request it, provide them with area codes, work phone numbers, and other pertinent information.
  • Ensure that customers, guests, and callers receive timely and meaningful feedback on their queries.
  • Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Inform and support patients with medical aid authorization procedures.
  • Follow up with patients regarding any feedback requested.
