Transnet Port Mobile Equipment Drivers. Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) has an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals to join the Richards Bay Multi-Purpose Terminal (MPT) operations as a Driver: Port Mobile Equipment. This position is critical to the logistics chain since it involves loading, transporting, and unloading cargo with terminal mobile equipment. The chosen applicant will be required to operate machinery in accordance with established operating procedures, resulting in smooth cargo flow and decreased damage, both of which are critical to increasing terminal profitability.

This position is ideal for individuals with previous port or warehouse driving experience and necessary machine operation certification. Individuals residing in the King Cetshwayo district will be given preference, which aligns with Transnet’s employment equity aims.

Tasks

Conduct pre-start inspections on assigned equipment daily to guarantee operational readiness.
Record and report any equipment faults, and complete the necessary task sheets.
Refuel and replenish the fluid levels of the equipment
Operate numerous mobile equipment types in accordance with standard operating procedures, including:
- Articulated vehicles
- Tractor/trailer combinations
- Forklifts
- Payloader
- Tip trucks
Monitor machine performance during tasks, and report issues or accidents.
Ensure that the appropriate equipment and accessories are utilized for specific cargo handling.
Switch between equipment as per operational needs
Perform end-of-shift shutdown and reporting tasks

Qualifications

Matric / NQF Level 4 qualification
Valid Code 14 (EC) driver’s license
Certified competence for each operated machine, such as:
- Dumper
- Front-End Loader
- Payloader

Experience

At least two years of relevant driving and equipment operating experience.
Work experience in at least one of the following environments:
- Port Operations
- Maritime Services
- Warehousing/Tallying Services
