Job Responsibilities – What You’ll Be Doing Each Day

As a Cleaner in one of Johannesburg’s Opportunity Centres, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, friendly, and professional atmosphere. Here’s what your daily tasks may include:

1. Cleaning and Hygiene

  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors on a regular basis to guarantee cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintain a dust-free workstation by dusting and wiping down furniture, surfaces, and windows.
  • Sanitize high-touch locations, such as door knobs, workstations, toilets, and kitchen surfaces, to fulfill health and safety regulations.

2. Waste Management

  • Empty the dustbins and dispose of rubbish correctly and consistently.
  • Ensure that all cleaning tools and supplies are kept clean and properly stowed after use.

3. Meeting Support

  • Prepare and serve refreshments (tea, coffee, and water) for staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Ensure that the kitchen or refreshment station is always clean and well-stocked.

4. General Housekeeping

  • Keep office areas, kitchens, toilets, and reception areas clean and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Assist with simple tasks like replacing toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
  • Report any maintenance issues or broken equipment to the supervisor.

5. Team Support

  • Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure the centre is clean, organized, and professional.
  • Be available to assist with simple errands or ad hoc cleaning activities as needed.

There is no prior experience required; only a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to assist whenever possible.
